5TH CRAFT ANIMFEST 2025
Welcome Crafter!
CRAFT International Animation Festival (CRAFT Animfest) is the first festival in Asia celebrating traditional techniques in animation (stop motion, classic drawing/painting animation, sand animation, etc.) It is also the first festival in Southeast Asia to review the current artistic animation implemented in this part of the world (in that case including digital techniques).
CRAFT Animfest task is to popularize some classic techniques of animation in a computer-dominated environment. Also to appreciate artists from this the Southeast Asia region. Ones who, regardless of the technique, makes original and interesting films. The moments of CRAFT Animfest is also a time for a creative meeting and exchange of experiences between creators and festival goers.
CRAFT Animfest started as a biennial festival held every odd year since 2017. Starting with its fifth edition in 2025, the festival will be held annually, during the same week as World Animation Day, celebrated on October 28.
OFFICIAL ARTWORK by Samuel Indratma
Samuel Indratma (born 1970, Gombong, Central Java) is a visual artist, muralist, and art consultant based in Yogyakarta. He is recognized as a pioneer of public art in Indonesia through the collectives Apotik Komik (1997–2005) and the Jogjakarta Mural Forum (since 2005), which transformed mural painting into a medium of social communication and a defining element of Yogyakarta’s urban identity.
His practice spans murals, wayang, batik, ceramics, installations, video art, and animation—blending Javanese traditions with contemporary approaches. Notable exhibitions include Wayang Los Stang (2017), Maju Jaya (2018), Agro Metal (2009), and Tabon (2024), addressing ecology, spirituality, and interfaith dialogue.
